#TheUltimateWrestlingStory: A Fan’s Perspective

I was taught to always test market my work before I launch it publicly. For example, in 2012 I used my blog to test market my project, ‘Echoes of the Ring’. Out of the fans taking part in the experiment, only one understood the story on a higher level. I promised in 2012, that ‘Echoes of the Ring’ was coming in 2013, and it did for that one fan.

My next project is called #TheUltimateWrestlingStory. I decided to test this project on the most ‘hardcore’ UWA Hardcore fan there is, ‘Paul Justin Case’. Although Paul is just a fan, I have personally heard Ontario Indy guys mark out for him as ‘that UWA fan’. It’s pathetic, really. Either way, I respect loyalty and Paul has been a loyal fan. A few weeks ago I gave Paul a sample of #TheUltimateWrestlingStory and this is what he had to say:

2015 was quickly coming to an end and I had a meeting with UWA’s founding father, Osiris (Jon). It had been roughly 8 months since I last saw him, at the Wrestling Abaddon show. We completely lost track of time, talking about professional wrestling for hours at the restaurant where we met. I felt as if I had ‘Lemarchand’s box’ from the movie ‘Hellraiser’ and was uncovering the secrets of UWA and the stories behind each of them. It was unreal! I now knew the good, bad, and the ugly things that happened behind the scenes. The stories Osiris told me could fill pages. I learned that some things aren’t always what they appear to be. In this business, you will only have a small circle of individuals who you can call ‘friends’.

On the ride home, all I could think about was what Osiris told me, as I was reminiscing about my most memorable moments with UWA and reflecting on how this meeting set the tone for the future. I also thought about the outside negativity that comes along with success and how it is often directed at those attempting to do something positive and live their dream.

There are big plans for UWA. I have the same excited and anxious feeling as I did years ago. Ontario’s best independent wrestling promotion is coming back and I will once again be a part of it.

Rest assured, the future of UWA is very bright. The truth is imminent.
